Sparky| The Abused Chihuahua

So, most of us probably know about Sparky the chihuahua , and some of us not.

Sparky was first owned by someone who only wanted to use him for a target. Poor Sparky was shot at with a pellet gun. Luckily he was rescued by a shelter employee then transported to Open Arms and Rescue in San Diego County, California, since no adoptive families or rescue groups were found in North Carolina. When the vet came to check him they had found that there were pellets shot in his spine. The vet said he’d never walk normally again.

Determined that this 5-pound little snowball was going to have a good rest of his life, the Open Arms Rescue president, Jenny Armour, took Sparky in as her own in 2014. “For the first 8-months I had him,” Said Jenny,” He stuck to my side. He’s like a little sidekick!”

Since Sparky wasn’t able to walk on his hind legs, he had to use a doggie wheelchair. But he soon got used to it. “You will have to put a leash on him, or else he will fly off!” Jenny said.” Nothing slows him down. He shoots off like a spark.” For months Jenny watched the little guy play with other dogs just like nothing was wrong with him. “He doesn’t know he can’t walk,” she had said. “He doesn’t know he’s different.”

One day, Jenny got a call from TV producer Michael Levitt, creator of the first ever rescue-dog-telethon, Cause for Paws. Sparky had been chosen to premier on the show. It was insane after the show, over 4 Million people watched the telethon, and over 4,400 people signed adoption forms!
